Bio

Toomas Šulovski of Clan Brujah is the whip of the Camarilla. He was born to a toymaker and shopkeeper in Tallinn on 23 February 1918, the day that Estonia declared its independence from the Soviet Union, and grew into an intelligent, fiery youth full of love for his Fatherland. Shortly before the outbreak of hostilities in World War II, Tom became a ghoul of Kalevipoeg, a Brujah politician and patriot who had taken the name of the hero of Estonian epic. In 1939, Kalevipoeg got word that the Soviet Union planned to occupy Estonia. He embraced Tom and ordered the neonate to flee to America before hostilities broke out, commanding him to carry on Kalevipoeg's own legacy of patriotism. Kalevipoeg and, for that matter, Tom's own parents are believed to have perished fighting aggressors during World War II, although it is not known whether said aggressors were human or supernatural, German or Russian. Though it broke his heart to leave behind the sire he looked up to and the nation that he loved, Tom carried out Kalevipoeg's wishes, making a name for himself in America. He threw in his lot with Princess Słavomira, feeling innate kinship with her because of her Polish ancestry; and his loyalty and inner fire soon secured him a position as the Camarilla's whip in Clash City. He misses Estonia but his visits there are infrequent and short, as spending too much time there mires him in regret for what was lost when he left it behind.

Relationships

While Tom has great respect for Princess Słavomira as a capable leader, he is like many of his clan in that he harbors secret doubts about the Camarilla's efficacy. Living in Clash City, he has interacted with the anarchs for the first time, and envies their apparent freedom of conduct. While his desire for belonging would make it difficult for him to leave the Camarilla behind entirely, he is at least open to the idea of opening political relations with the anarchs.

Combat

Like many Brujah, Tom is a martially inclined sort of vampire, particularly because he feels guilty about not being able to fight for Estonia in World War II. He is naturally quite sensitive and defensive, although since ascending to the position of whip, has had to learn greater self-control. He has begun to practice Japanese martial arts in order to control and express his notorious Brujah temper; his favorite weapons are the wooden sword and the shuriken. Other martial artists in the Camarilla (particularly Gizmo and Master l'Écuyer) scoff at this pursuit, thinking that as a European he ought to stick to European styles of combat, but Tom has never been known to put much stock in the derision of others … until it builds up and digs at him.
